World Record holder, Barry Groves, on Flight Archery
There are several different disciplines within the sport of archery. All are developed from either hunting or warfare. Most involve shooting at a target. Flight archery is the one that doesn't. I like to think of Flight archery as the "Formula One" of archery. A DIY Flight Bow A flight bow is different from a normal target bow. Here is an easy way to make one. Flight Arrows Unless you are shooting in a Target bow class, you will need to make your own arrows. Here's how. Making a Flight Release Flight compounds are shot with a normal release aid but a recurve Flight bow uses a "flipper". This is how they are made. Measuring Distances You might think measuring the distance an arrow has been shot is simple. It is — but only when you know how! The Windrush Bowmen Based in Witney, Oxfordshire, this is my local club. If you are interested in the sport and live in this area, why not give us a try?
Beginners — men, women, boys and girls — are welcome. Our beginners' courses start on the first Tuesday of May each year. Application forms afre available through the Windrush Bowmen website. Archery EquipmentMy Flight bows are made for me by Ben Jones at Merlin Bows of Loughborough, UK. Merlin also make a superb range of Compound and Recurve Target bows. |
